TYCM Urges Manipur University to Reschedule B.Ed. Exam Falling on Christmas Eve

Imphal, October 31: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur, Students’ and Education Affairs (TYCM-SEA) has urged Manipur University (MU), Canchipur, to reconsider the examination date of December 24, 2025, for the B.Ed. 1st Semester, citing inconvenience for tribal Christian students preparing for Christmas celebrations.

In a representation submitted to the Vice-Chancellor on October 29, the student body requested that the exam scheduled for December 24 be shifted to a date not close to December 25, stating that the period from December 23 to 24 is a crucial time for tribal students returning to their home villages for Christmas preparations.

TYCM-SEA expressed disappointment over MU’s decision, noting that most tribal students come from remote areas, making it impractical for them to appear for the exam on December 24 and travel home the same day. The group stated that such scheduling reflects disregard for the sentiments and convenience of tribal Christian students.

The council appealed to the university authorities to review the examination calendar and take appropriate steps to ensure fairness and inclusivity in scheduling, keeping in mind the larger interest of the affected students.
