Ukhrul celebrates 75th India’s Independence Day

Ukhrul: Ukhrul headquarters came alive on Monday as it joined the rest of Indian states celebrating the glorious 75th India’s Independence day at Bakshi ground Hungpung in Ukhrul headquarters.

Krishna Kumar, IAS, deputy commissioner Ukhrul graced the event as chief guest in the presence of District Level Officers (DLOs), government employees and public.

Speaking at the occasion, Krishna Kumar, IAS, deputy commissioner Ukhrul recalled the supreme sacrifice made by the freedom fighters who had laid down their lives for India’s Independence.

“Every citizen today remember and pay our highest respect and honour to all who had brought the nation to a fast developing state thus far, ” he recalled, while urging public to be a responsible citizen in the nation building.

“If each and everyone of us take our own responsive part and join hands to move forward, Ukhrul will soon become a significant and developed district headquarter,” he emphasised.

The district administration handed out appreciation certificates to as many as 65 employees from different departments for the relentless service they have rendered.

Marchang Wungmahai, sub- inspector, Ukhrul police department was given award of Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for 2022, while Raimison WS, Informatics officer, department of Information Technology, Ukhrul Headquarter received Chief Minister’s Award for good governance in the individual category for 2021-2022.

Altogether, 16 contingents including ex-servicemen, Manipur Rifles, Manipur Police, government and private schools participated in the march pass with Jadumani Singh, SDPO, Jessami sub-division, Ukhrul attending the event as commander of the parade.

Nungbi Khullen Youth Club, Lower Hungpung Cultural Dance Troupe, All Manipur Gorkha Student Association, Ukhrul Unit and Band Party and Thotreiso Keishing, singer cum actor enthralled the public with cultural items.

In the the meanwhile, a release issued by DIO Ukhrul/ DIPR said that gates were constructed at various government departments of the district headquarters. Friendly football match exhibition was also held between the deputy commissioner Ukhrul and Police team.
