Ukhrul: The Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) in its emergency meeting held on Monday at the office of Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA), Wino Bazaar, Ukhrul vehemently condemn the invalid election conducted unconstitutionally for the post of self styled president and secretary of of the so called unrecognised Ukhrul District Olympic Association by some groups on October 8, 2022.
The said election has been conducted without following any rule of law and also neither following the guidelines of the Manipur Olympic Association. The members present at today’s emergency meeting would like to know on what Memorandum of Association and guidelines were the election conducted? A release issued on Monday by Phungchgan Raikhan, Interim president, Ukhrul District Olympic Association stated.

The meeting was attended by representatives from 22 sports association operating in Ukhrul district. President of Kick Boxing Association of Manipur, Preshow MK. Shimray who is also the former deputy speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly and also a sports enthusiast attended the said meeting and suggested for bringing unity and development among the various sports discipline operating in Ukhrul district.
The members present after thorough deliberation constituted an Election Committee to conduct the election for the Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) in accordance with the rules and guidelines as per the Memorandum of Association of Manipur Olympic Association and in consultation with the president of Manipur Olympic Association.

Accordingly, Soreingam Luiram has been appointed as the Chief Election Commisioner. RS. Ramyang, Khayui Raleng, Nixon Shirik, Worthing Soro and Theophilus Zimik as members of Election Commission.
The members present also unanimously agreed to convene a General Body Meeting of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) on 26 October 2022 at the office of Ukhrul District Sports Association, Wino bazaar, Ukhrul and requested all sports associations operating in Ukhrul district to attend the said GBM, it added.
It maybe mentioned that, Ukhrul district MLA Ram Muivah and Rungshing Kharay were elected as president and general secretary of the newly formed Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) for the tenure of October 2022 to October 2025.
