Ukhrul, March 7: The Sinakeithei Village Authority has submitted a memorandum to 44 Assembly Constituency MLA Ram Muivah following an incident of “unprovoked firing by Kuki militants and volunteers upon innocent, peaceful cultivators working in the fields today.”
The village authority reported that around 2:50 to 3:00 PM, Kuki militants and Kuki volunteers opened fire on the cultivators in their fields without provocation. They noted that such incidents have happened repeatedly in recent times, instilling fear and panic among law-abiding citizens.

Reiterating that the Lungther Range falls within the territory of Sinakeithei Village, the village authority has demanded an immediate investigation and strict legal action against those responsible for the unprovoked firing and intimidation of villagers.
Furthermore, the authority has called for the deployment of additional state security forces to secure the western route of the village, particularly around the Lungther Hill range. Given the seriousness of the situation, the village authority has asked the government to take urgent steps to protect and secure the villagers.

Additionally, they have requested the removal of illegally constructed bunkers established by the Kuki community within their village.
