Ukhrul, November 1: The “Unity March – Sardar@150” commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was held on Friday at Jubilee Hall, Kamphasom, Ukhrul. The event was organized by MY Bharat Ukhrul, Manipur to honour the legacy of the Iron Man of India and to promote the message of unity, self-reliance, and national integration among the youth.
The programme began with the arrival of dignitaries and participants, followed by the distribution of MY Bharat shirts and kits. Worchipem AC, District Youth Officer of MY Bharat, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the day’s programme.

A n homage was paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to mark the occasion. The Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das, addressed the gathering, highlighting Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in uniting the nation and encouraging the youth of Ukhrul to embody the same spirit of unity and service.
As part of the initiative, sports materials were distributed by the Deputy Commissioner to various youth clubs. A cultural song presentation by the NSS Unit, Ukhrul, added a vibrant touch to the celebration.
The Aatmanirbhar Pledge was led by Wungtam Zimik, Convenor of Aatmanirbhar Ukhrul, reaffirming the district’s commitment toward self-reliance and local empowerment. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Peacemoon Zimik, Convenor of Sardar@150, expressing gratitude to all participants and supporters.
The highlight of the day was the Unity March, which saw enthusiastic participation from students as they walked from Jubilee Hall, Kamphasom, to the Mini Secretariat, Hamleikhong. The march was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Asish Das, symbolizing solidarity and the collective spirit of the people of Ukhrul in upholding the ideals of unity, integrity, and progress envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
