Ukhrul: Ragui’s Memorial Prayer Garden Cum Recreational Centre Inaugurated

Ukhrul: A prayer garden and community recreational centre at Lanaitang, Ukhrul, in memory of Late Khorei Ragui and Late Amot Ragui, was inaugurated and officially opened to the public on Wednesday. The President of Tangkhul Naga Long, Sword Vashum, unveiled the memorial plaque in the presence of Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Kengoo Zuringla (IAS), Hunphun Headman H.A. Khayaiwo, President of Tangkhul Shanao Long, Thingreiphi Lungharwoshi, and other dignitaries.

Late Khorei Ragui was a mission worker for 40 years and had eight children—three daughters and five sons. Both Late Khorei Ragui and his wife, Late Amot Ragui, zealously and earnestly worked for the glory of God’s kingdom. Born on December 10, 1925, Khorei Ragui passed away on December 16, 2000. Respected and well-known in the community, their contributions remain alive today. In their memory, their children have constructed the prayer garden and recreational centre at Lanaitang, Ukhrul, approximately 8 km from Ukhrul Headquarters. The facility includes a swimming pool, a football turf ground, a homestay, and a recreational park for children.

“This is a place for everyone—a place where anyone can come to pray and worship God, meditate, communicate with God, and build a stronger relationship with the Almighty,” said Paoring Ragui, son of Late Khorei and Amot Ragui.

Kengoo Zuringla remarked, “It is a tremendous blessing to have parents who prayed for, cared for, and guided their children. We are a blessed generation. The visionary seeds sown by the parents are bearing fruit now. Their children have followed the path their parents showed them. Today, the next generation of Late Khorei Ragui and Late Amot Ragui is reaping the blessings they sowed.”

A special performance by Masot Khon and a traditional folk dance display by students of Ukhrul Central School added much joy to the programme.
