United Naga Council Declares Genna on October 29 to Honor Th. Muivah at Tahamzam

Senapati, October 23: The United Naga Council (UNC) has issued a declaration of Genna on October 29, 2025, on the occasion of the historic civic reception in honour of Th. Muivah, Hon’ble Ato Kilonser, at Tahamzam (Senapati) District Headquarters, organized under the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN).

In its declaration, the UNC stated that in reverence to Naga traditions and cultural practices, the Nagas in the present state of Manipur hereby declare a Genna for the occasion.

During the Genna, the UNC called upon all community members to declare holidays for all educational institutions and shops as a mark of respect, abstain from all economic and commercial activities, participate in community gatherings and programmes organized to celebrate the occasion, and uphold the spirit of unity and solidarity.

The UNC emphasized that the Genna should serve as a symbol of unity, strength, and commitment in the ongoing quest for self-determination, grounded in the unique history and position of the Nagas.

Further, the council prayed that the collective efforts of the Naga community during this historic occasion would bring peace, prosperity, and progress to the Nagas.
