SENAPATI: A team of Naga apex civil organisations led by the United Naga Council (UNC) left Senapati on Friday morning for Assam to attend the tripartite talks scheduled for September 26.
The talks will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the Manipur government’s Home department and the Naga civil organisations.
According to a letter from Manipur’s Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home), N. Ashok Kumar, to UNC president Ng Lorho, the meeting will be held at 11 am on September 26 at the BSF FTR HQ Officer Mess at Garbhanga, Assam.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur and related peace-building measures, the letter stated.
More than 10 representatives from Naga civil organisations are reported to have left for Assam, including representatives of the UNC, its working committee, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women’s Union (NWU), Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), Rongmei Naga Council (RNC), Joint Tribe Council, Manipur (JTC-M) and Naga Peoples’ Organisation (NPO).
The talks are scheduled for Saturday.

The tripartite talks between the Government of India, Government of Manipur and the United Naga Council (UNC), held on November 29, 2024, at Senapati District Headquarters, focused on the prevailing law and order situation and peace-building measures, with the UNC pressing the Manipur government to submit a concrete proposal at the next round of talks.
