UKHRUL: Images have emerged from Sinakeithei Tangkhul Naga Village, in Ukhrul District where an unexploded ordnance, identified as a 51 mm illuminating mortar round (illumination flare), was shared by Wung Media on X. The mortar flare was discovered by villagers in the aftermath of a deadly attacks by heavily armed Kuki militants on March 19, 2026.
Experts, Ukhrul Times consider credible said that the unexploded mortar resembles a military-grade mortar flare, typically used for battlefield illumination by primarily military or Army and concurred that such type is not legally or practically used by civilians.
According to the Sinakeithei Village Authority (VA), the confrontation began on Thursday at around 3:00 PM and has continued without interruption. The VA reported that militants carried out sustained attacks at regular intervals, beginning around 8:00 PM on Thursday and continuing until 3:30 AM on Friday.
Further attacks have been reported this morning, starting at approximately 6:15 AM and continuing until 9:30 AM.

Following the unprovoked attacks on Tangkhul Naga villages, the Tangkhul Naga Long Working Committee has called for complete scrapping of the SoO agreement with Kuki militant groups, following reports of fresh violence in Ukhrul district, Manipur on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has announced the temporary suspension of the proposed mass democratic procession scheduled for March 21, 2026, at Litan.
