NNN | IMPHAL, JULY 15: Union Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, e-inaugurated National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Extension Centre, Manipur, at the campus of Government ITI, Takyel in Imphal through a video conference during the Digital Conclave held on Wednesday on the occasion of the World Youth Skills Day and the fifth anniversary of ‘Skill India’ mission, organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.
The NSTI, Extension Centre, Manipur, at the campus of Government ITI, Takyel will facilitate training of Trainers in the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) trades of Motor Mechanic Vehicle , Carpentry and Electrician initially by making use of existing infrastructure & Equipment in the ITI for the benefit of ITI Passed outs in the Northeast Region.
The NSTI, Extension Centre, Manipur was e-inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of State for Power, New & Renewable Energy (Independent Charge) and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, R. K. Singh, Minister of Labour & Employment, Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam, Secretary, MSDE, Government of India Praveen Kumar, Addl. Chief Secretary to the Government of Manipur, Letkhogin Haokip, Addl. Secretary/Directorate General, Neelam Shami Rao, Additional Secretary, Labour & Employment, Th. Chitra, Mission Director, Manipur Society for Skill Development, Kh. Diana Devi, ISDS, Dy. Director General, Deepankar Mallick, ISDS, Regional Director S. S. Naik, ISDS, Joint Director, RDSDE,- NE Region, DGT, MSDE, Govt. of India(GOI) B. K. Singha.
During the Digital Conclave, the Minister, Labour & Employment, Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Mahendranath Pandey, for his consent to set up a new NSTI in a land measuring about 12 acres at Heirok village, Wangjing Tentha CD Block, Thoubal district which is a part of an Educational & Skill hub identified by Government of Manipur, wherein construction of a residential senior secondary school and an engineering college under Rashtriya Uchhatar Siksha Abhiyan of MHRD, GOI, is under progress. He also said that the new NSTI will help in meeting the future demands and urged the trainers to take advantage of the skilling opportunities that will be provided in the institute.
New NSTI meets future demand to the existing 21768 CITS trained instructors of 17683 & 4085 in both Engineering & Non Engineering trades respectively in the North Eastern region of 7 states (Assam, ArunachalPradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura). It is to cater the needs of Rural target groups among 70% rural population in the state by means of conducting new age courses especially employment oriented. New age courses under Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS): Geo Informatics Assistant; Internet of Things (Smart Agriculture and Smart city); Solar Technician (Electrical) and Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA)/Drone Pilot.
This New NSTI will produce Vocational Instructors & facilitate need based short term training courses as 117 Engineering trades are being taught at CTS Level in the NE region.
