CHURACHANDPUR: Thousands joined the Wailing Procession held on Monday evening in honour of Late Vungzagin Valte, the sitting BJP MLA of 56-Thanlon Assembly Constituency, who breathed his last on February 20, after succumbing to injuries sustained during the violent ethnic clashes in Manipur in May, 2023.

Organised by the Zomi Co-ordination Committee (ZCC), the Wailing Procession commenced from the residence of the late MLA at Dorcas Veng at New Lamka, and culminated at Churachandpur Medical College campus.

The procession was supposed to commence at 7 pm but got delayed due to heavy rain. The procession, however, witnessed thousands of participants carrying traditional torches and a dummy coffin of the late leader.

It was held under the theme “All give some, Some give all”, highlighting the late leader’s resolve for justice.
