Wreath-Laying Ceremony Honors BSF Jawan Lt. Mithun Mandal

UKHRUL: Constable Mithun Mandal of “A” Company, 170 Battalion BSF, who was killed in the line of duty on April 10, 2026, was honored today at Imphal Airport. A wreath-laying ceremony with full Force honors was held on April 11, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM to pay homage to the martyr.

According to a press statement from the Inspector General, FTR Headquarters Mizoram and Assam, the ceremony was organized by the Sector Headquarters of the BSF in Manipur and attended by approximately 200 Force personnel, senior officers, and jawans. Several dignitaries, including Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, and IPS DGP Manipur Rajiv Singh, were present at the event. Floral tributes were paid, and the Force rendered its last respects with full military honors.

The press statement noted that Constable Mithun Mandal made the supreme sacrifice on April 10, 2026, in Ukhrul District, Manipur. He sustained a bullet injury to his left shoulder while performing Road Opening Party (ROP) duty during an exchange of fire between Tangkhul Naga miscreants and Kuki miscreants at Mongkot Chepu Village under the jurisdiction of PS Litan. He was immediately evacuated to RIMS Imphal but succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by the attending doctor. The statement emphasized, “His exemplary courage, dedication, and devotion to duty reflect the highest traditions of the Border Security Force.”

Additionally, the press statement reported that the mortal remains of the braveheart were subsequently sent to his ancestral home, with the Force extending its solidarity to the bereaved family during this time of grief. “The sacrifice of Late Constable/GD Mithun Mandal will always be remembered with honor, pride, and deep gratitude,” it concluded.
