Manipur Govt Bans Unauthorized Drone Operations in Ukhrul

UKHRUL: The Government of Manipur has highlighted concerns regarding public safety, privacy, and the security of sensitive installations amid the operation of unauthorized drones in Ukhrul.

Citing the Drone Rules, 2021 issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, it noted that any drone flight conducted without prior permission from the competent authority is unlawful, unless otherwise exempted.

With public safety in mind, the government has ordered a prohibition on flying drones without prior authorization from the competent authority. It added that any unauthorized drone operating within the area will be considered a violation and will be subject to seizure and possible criminal proceedings under applicable laws.

The order further stated that any drone found operating unlawfully may be taken down or confiscated by authorized security personnel or law enforcement agencies. Violation of this order will attract penalties, including but not limited to confiscation of equipment, fines, and prosecution. The order takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.
