Ukhrul, Jan 31: The Department of English at St. Joseph College, Ukhrul, organized a “Writer’s Talk” featuring Rev. Somi Kasomwoshi, Pastor of UTBC, who spoke about his latest books, Tangkhul Hao, Tangkhul Chanjam and Answer to Climate Change with Reference to the Hao Tangkhul Worldview (Traditional Life) at the Smart Classroom, St. Joseph College, Ukhrul, on Friday.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students across multiple disciplines.

In his insightful deliberation, Rev. Kasomwoshi emphasized the significance of proverbs, stating, “A proverb is a guide for life. By knowing proverbs, one can live better, as they encapsulate the wisdom and lived experiences of the community.” He stressed that proverbs instill discipline in the younger generation, teaching them to manage time wisely and act with foresight.

Speaking on the Tangkhul worldview, he highlighted the harmonious relationship between nature and human beings, asserting that traditional Tangkhul life is built on coexistence rather than exploitation, where both depend on each other for survival.

The event was attended by faculty members from the Departments of English, History, Botany, Education, and Political Science, along with 80 students who actively engaged in discussions. The program was meticulously conducted, with Masopam Kasar delivering the welcome address, Jacinta Awung Shimray (BA V Semester, English) compering the event, Mangarin A. Shatsang (BA V Semester, English) giving a special musical performance, and Nimso Horam (BA III Semester, English) delivering the vote of thanks.

The session concluded with an engaging interaction between the speaker and the participants.
