Imphal: Zeliangrong Meet 2024 was held at Manipur University today, organized under the theme “Preserving Zeliangrong Heritage and Unity” and witnessed display of cultural richness and academic fervor. The annual event was graced by IGP Dr. IK Muivah as the Chief Guest. The gathering was attended by faculty members, research scholars, postgraduate students, and leaders of the Zeliangrong community. Prof Dr. Mathew MK is President of Zeliangrong Welfare Committee.
IGP Dr. IK Muivah, in his address, urged attendees to seize the present moment and strive for excellence without delay. He emphasized the transient nature of the student phase – the phase of being a student ends around 25 years or at the most 30 years – urging students to focus on acquiring expertise in their respective fields through dedicated effort rather than seeking shortcuts for exams.

The meet saw two sessions, with VIPs, scholars, and participants immersed in a series of engaging activities. Cultural dances infused the atmosphere with traditional vibrancy, while song presentations added a melodious touch to the gathering. A special guest performance by Mathiuhuam Kamei captivated the audience, showcasing the talent and diversity within the Zeliangrong community.
One of the highlights of the Zeliangrong Meet 2024 was the introduction of freshers, symbolizing the continuation of academic growth and the welcoming of new talents into the community. The selection and declaration of Mr. & Miss Freshers added an element of excitement and camaraderie among attendees.
