Zingthanwo Bags Best Film Award

Ukhrul, December 16: Zingthanwo (Morning Star) poignantly portrays a pre-Christian Tangkhul love saga showcasing the timeless tale of star-crossed lovers amidst the tumultuous backdrop of feuding villages won the best film at the Tangkhul Naga Film Festival 2023. The film masterfully navigates the complexities of love, loyalty and tradition through its compelling narrative and emotive storytelling.

Altogether 6 (six) were received as entries for the Tangkhul Naga Film Awards 2023. The Jury Members are Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, National Awardee Filmmaker/Secretary, MSFDS as Chairman and the members are Wungkathing Makang. Producer/Director, Aso Luithui, Actor/Convenor Censor Board TNFA, VR Wison, Member Censor Board TNFA and Romi Meitei, National Awardee Filmmaker.

The jury members viewed the films censored between 2022-23 at the preview theater of the MSFD at Palace Gate, Imphal. The quality of the productions pleasantly delighted the juries and after threadbare deliberations, recommended the following awards with the respective citations:

Best Film award was given to Zingthanwo (Morning Star), produced by Meiphung Productions and directed by Makanmi Ramror and Seema KS Awungshi. The Best Director award was given to AC Rinshing for the film Samkhok. The best actor (Female) was awarded to Angel Shimrah for the film Ngavei, and Khayaikhan R Shimray bagged the best actor (Male) award for the film Yunra.

The award for best editor was given to Sorenzan Vashum for the film Samkhok, and best cinematographer to Pamshim Rungsing for the film Zingthanwo.

In the best supporting role, in the category of female, Rosy W Shimray was given for the film Ngavei and in the male category, Wunglengsing Longleng for the film Yunra.

The best writer award was given to Obed Vasha for the film I Hanunghaoga.

The award for best background score went to Thanrei Varengnao for the film Tantak. Best costume awards was given to Kahorrei AC and AC Rinshing for the film Samkhok, and best makeup award went to Aillen Ronra for the film Zingthanwo.

Special jury mention was given to Sorenzan Vashum for visual effects for the film Samshok, Reingaphan Awungshi, Ilishan Jajo and Philayung Jajo respectively for the film Zingthanwo.
