16 new positive cases reported in Ukhrul District, 7 residents declared containment zone

The surveillance officer on Tuesday following persons of Ukhrul District who tested Covid-19 positive, in view of the impending threat in the area, the District Magistrate has declared immediate containment measures in the area to prevent further spread of the disease, ordering for immediate sealing of the house/ compound, barred entry and exit of the population from the containment area, and had asked to initiate active surveillance of Covid – 19 cases.

The District Magistrate in exercise of the power conferred under Para 12 of “The Manipur Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” declared the following containment measures in the geographical area mentioned in the schedule below with immediate effect.

In addition to the five Containment zones announced on Tuesday, the below two residents have been sealed off.

Resident of Ngayaopam Raising H/o Dr Pamyo Mayotang and

Resident of Th. Nanao H/o Thoi, Greenland.

Containment orders of two residents, namely of AS Stephen, TM Kasom and Chingripem Khamrang, Wino Bazaar were revoked on Tuesday as all the family members in the containment zone tested Covid Negative.

The updated Covid-19 status report in Ukhrul (ended at 5 pm of May 11) reported 16 fresh positive cases.

Any person, institution and organisation found violating any of these measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under section 188 of Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the orders issued by Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS further stated.
