CHURACHANDPUR: The Khuga Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a mega medical camp at Hiangtam Lamka in Churachandpur on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day. The camp was conducted in collaboration with Metro Zone Health Services Private Limited, Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM), and Churachandpur Medical College (CMC).

According to a source from the Assam Rifles, the initiative was organised as part of its continued efforts towards community welfare and accessible healthcare. The programme aimed to provide essential medical services to people residing in IDP camps as well as those living in remote peripheral areas of the town.

A team of eight doctors conducted the camp, including three from the Assam Rifles and five from Churachandpur District Hospital. The team comprised specialists in medicine and obstetrics and gynaecology, along with medical staff from the Unit Hospital of 37 Assam Rifles. Nurses from the District Hospital, Churachandpur, and Tunnu School of Nursing, Buallian, also assisted in providing medical consultations and distributing medicines free of cost.

The medical camp, held at the YPA Headquarters Hall in Hiangtam Lamka, examined a total of 546 patients. Among them were 324 women, including 155 pregnant women, 168 men, and 54 children.

Special emphasis was placed on women’s health during the programme, with awareness sessions conducted for the local population. As part of the initiative, Ante-Natal Care packages were distributed to 100 pregnant women, while 50 Post-Natal Care packages were given to lactating mothers.
