6th Edition of Edu-Fest 2023 begins in Ukhrul

Ukhrul: The 6th edition of Edu-Fest 2022 – State Level Inter-School Championship kickstarted on Thursday at UBC Jubilee Hall, Ukhrul Headquarters.

Organised by District Administration and North-East Foundation for Education and Culture (NEFEC), the three day long education festival was attended by Khashim Vashum, Minister Transport, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Government of Manipur and Ram Muivah, MLA of 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, minister Khashim Vashum stated that “students should not be used as a shield or deploy in the frontline during agitation, strikes and bandh. I appeal to the Principal of the various schools present here today to refrain others from allowing them to use your students during agitation, bandh and rally.”

“This very educational festival 2023 is to showcase the talents of the young coming generation, to raise their talents and skills and expose at the higher level, to excel in everything and to learn and adapt with the fast changing world and dare to dream. With hardwork and perseverance, God will surely open the way for you. Believe in yourself. Winning in this kind of competition will surely boost you morally and mentally. I wish all of you a success in your future endeavours and I also extend my deep appreciation to the organisor for hosting such event” added minister Khashim Vashum.

MLA Ram Muivah stated “remember there is a higher purpose in life. We are not living for ourselves. We have a duty to our society, community and nation. May we all flourish and be a pillar of the nation.”

The life expereinces sharing by the two dignitaries greatly inspired and motivated the students.

“The main objective of Edu Fest 2023 is to help students to realise their inborn talents and act as a platform to showcase or expose such talents through competitive spirit” stated Kengoo Zuringla, deputy commissioner of Ukhrul in her welcome and keynote address. SP of Ukhrul, Ningshem Vashum while delivering the words of gratitude, expressed immense gratitude to the dignitaries and participants for making the programme a success.

A total of 523 participants from 23 schools will be participating in the championship. The competition is open for all students of the state. The competition items will comprise both individual and group that include quiz, spelling bee (3 categories), painting (3 categories), singing (Acapella), my dream (futurological project), mime, extempore speech and cultural show for students studying in Class III – Class XII in government or private schools of the state. The rendition of Tangkhul Anthem by students of KTL Excel Higher Secondary School and performance by famous Tangkhul artist, Winso Chamroy enthralled the gathering and added more colour to the festival.
