The proposed NH-2 bandh by the Mao Student’s Union Joint Action Committee (MSUJAC) has been called off after the state government and MSUJAC came to an agreement in regard to the demise of its Tribunal General and former President of the student body A Mayili Charana due to medical lapses. The meeting was chaired by Dr Sapam Ranjan, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Manipur.
MSUJAC on October 14 expressed dissatisfaction over the enquiry committee’s report which came out on October 9th and termed Lt A Mayili Charana Enquiry Committee findings, one sided and several aspects of the enquiry “overlooked” and that the report in question was, “unsustainable”. MSUJAC also questioned the state government for the four days delay in furnishing the report as it was only made public on October 13th while the report came out on October 9th.
The four agreements upon which the proposed bandh was called off included posting of “some specialists doctors ( Surgery, Anesthetist, General Medicine)”, apart from the 7 MOs and 1 Gynecologist posted at Senapati District hospital (SDH), Mao.
The state government agreed to post one Pediatrician immediately with the understanding of an addition of one more Anesthesiologist, apart from the 8 Specialist and 13 MOs presently posted in District hospital (DH), Senapati.
A Blood Storage Centre at SDH, Mao and Blood Bank at DH, Senapati with necessary procedural works to begin within a month, as assured by the government.
Steps will be taken to increase capacity in OT at DH, Senapati and SHD, Mao. State level team will visit these hospitals within October month itself to verify the availability of equipment as well as active functioning of the hospitals. In addition the state team will inspect the functioning of Free Diagnostic Services in both the hospitals.
MSUJAC was due to resume its course of agitations of ‘Total Bandh’ from 20th October 2020.
