In June 2020, when the world had come to a standstill during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ukhrul Times was born with a simple belief: our people deserve journalism they can trust. It also became the state’s first full-fledged digital news portal.
We started with no large newsroom, no corporate backing, and no certainty that we would succeed. We only had a conviction that independent journalism matters and the hope that our readers would believe in it too.
Six years later, that conviction remains unchanged.
Behind every story is a newsroom that continues to work with remarkable commitment despite limited resources. Many of our team members have volunteered their time and talent, not because the work is financially rewarding, it isn’t, but because they believe that truthful journalism is worth building. Their dedication is the foundation of everything we have achieved as a strong English news brand in Manipur, Northeast and beyond.
As Ukhrul Times breaches 100,000 followers on Facebook, I am reminded that this milestone does not belong to us alone. It belongs to every reader who has chosen to trust us, every person who has shared our stories, every contributor who has strengthened our reporting, and every supporter who believed in our mission.
Your trust has always been our greatest achievement.
Over the years, we have reported through moments of hope, uncertainty, and crisis. We have celebrated our communities, given space to voices that are too often unheard. Along the way, we have made mistakes, learned from them, and continued striving to report with fairness, accuracy, and integrity. That commitment will never change.
