SENAPATI: The book “A Poem for Her” was formally released on Saturday at a modest gathering held at The Garden Kitchen, Senapati. The event brought together dignitaries, literary enthusiasts, student leaders, and well-wishers in a warm and intimate setting. The programme began at 10 am with A. Athia Ridju moderating and welcoming the attendees.

Guests were received with a brief felicitation before author Chorow Kape delivered his opening address. Sharing the inspiration behind the book, he described the collection as an emotional journey exploring love, romance, heartbreak, hope, memories, sacrifice and the many layers of human experience.
“Love is not measured by what we receive,” he said. “It is shaped by sacrifice, commitment, understanding, support and care. These poems are wrapped in emotions, memories and hope, presented as a gift.”

The highlight of the programme was the official release of the book by Adahrii Maheo, MCS, Chief Executive Officer of ADC Senapati. Calling it an important moment for the local literary community, Maheo commended the author’s dedication, noting that poetry demands deeper introspection than prose and often takes days or weeks to craft a single piece. He congratulated Chorow Kape and wished him success in future publications.

Speaking at the event, Pfokrehrii Matekho Pekosii, President of the Mao Students’ Union, recalled the author’s active role in the union and praised his perseverance in completing and publishing the book. He said the release was not just a celebration of the book, but a celebration of creative expression emerging from the community.
“Storytelling and poetry preserve identity and inspire younger generations,” he said, urging more young writers to explore their potential. He also stressed the importance of strengthening community literature, including producing works in the Mao dialect to promote local language and culture.

A Poem for Her contains 100 poems.
