A large number of people today thronged the residence of the Union minister at Kongba Nandeibam Leikai in Imphal East district. The police and Central security forces detailed there as guards of the Union minister’s residence blocked them from entering the abandoned residence.

Even as they were prevented from entering the residence of the Union minister, the agitators chanted various slogans demanding safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Manipur, abrogation of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants, etc.

The agitators demanded that the Union minister must raise the issue confronting the state in the floor of the house of parliament in the ongoing session while tabling a detailed account of the root cause of the conflict.
