Imphal: Union Home minister Amit Shah who arrived in Imphal today to take part in the party election campaign addressed a party election rally held at Devi Mandap Lampak, Heirok Part – II in Thoubal district.

The Union Home minister criticized the Congress party, saying that the then Congress government led by O Ibobi Singh had even failed to provide tap water connection to 5% households.

He said that the Congress had ruled the state for 15 years but did nothing for the welfare of the people. “Only 5 % of households got tap water connections all these years. This is a hard evidence”, he also said.

“However, in the last five year rule of the BJP-led coalition government tap water connections were provided to more than 57% households”, he claimed.

While hitting back at the allegation of the Congress over the hike in the prices of goods particularly on vehicle fuels and LPG, Amit Shah said that people would not forget the artificial price hike in the state due to the frequent bandhs and blockades on the national highways.

“I would like to remind you Ibobiji that during your tenure the price of LPG shot up to Rs 3000 (a refilled cylinder), Rs 300 per liter of petrol,” he said.
