Ukhrul, June 10: Arambai Tenggol has officially suspended the 10-day bandh in Manipur that was launched to protest the arrest of its leader, Asem Kanan Singh. The suspension came into effect this morning, marking the third day of the agitation.
Before the suspension, normal life across the five valley districts of Manipur had come to a near standstill. The bandh led to widespread disruption, further intensified by ongoing internet shutdowns and prohibitory orders imposed under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) by the state government to maintain law and order.

Commercial activity was severely affected, with Khwairamband Keithel, the state’s largest marketplace, remaining largely closed, except for a few women vendors selling vegetables in the early hours. Most shops kept their shutters down, and public transport services were off the roads. Only vehicles engaged in emergency services, essential supplies, and religious functions were permitted to operate.
To prevent any escalation of tensions, State and Central security forces were deployed across sensitive areas in Imphal and key points in the valley districts.
It may be noted that the 10-day bandh called by Arambai Tenggol was enforced primarily in the valley districts of Manipur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching, while it was not observed in the hill districts of the state.
