Arms license holders should renew license on time: CM Biren

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh who also holds the Home portfolio on Wednesday informed the House that cases of killing by holders of license guns have increased in Manipur. His comments comes after his Tuesday’s information that the cabinet has resolved to ban various means of mining of minerals, including sand in riverbeds with the help of machines in the state.

Replying to a calling attention by some legislators, the chief minister said that killing cases in Manipur have increased by the holders of licensed guns. As such, he said that he had instructed district magistrates and superintendents of police in the state to examine the purpose carefully before issuing arms licenses.

He also informed in the House that arms license holders should renew their licenses in the given period of time otherwise it would be considered as illegal.
