Senapati: A consultative meeting with the Civil Society Organizations of Senapati district was held at Senapati district headquarters organised by the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) about the pending Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021 recommended by the HAC.
The meeting later resolved and adopted that urged the Manipur state government to convene a Special Session of Manipur Legislative Assembly to table the HAC Recommended ADC Bill, 2021; the reason for withdrawal of the speaker’s order, Manipur Legislative Assembly was declared unacceptable as it was not based on the “Rules of Procedures and conduct of business,” as according to Article 371 (C).
The decision of ATSUM to boycott the state government program Go to Hills 2.0 is endorsed by the district CSOs where, the boycott movement will continue until the HAC recommended ADC Bill, 2021 is tabled and the speaker’s order is withdrawn with appropriate reason.
Earlier, the tribal student body, ATSUM had organised similar consultative meeting at Ukhrul district headquarters recently where the district CSOs supported the move in defence of tribal’s rights of the state.
Representatives from the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM), All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Kuki Students Organization-General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ), Naga People’s Organization (NPO), Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and its federating units of the student body attended the consultative meeting.
