CHANDEL: With the aim to make parents aware on the development and rights of children, a one-day awareness programme “Understanding Child Development and Children’s Right” was held on Monday at the community hall of Y Khutha village in Chakpikarong Sub-Division of Chandel district.
Organised by Helping Hand Initiative under NALSA’s Childe Friendly Legal Services for Children Scheme 2024, the awareness programme aimmed to impart various knowledge related to child development and their rights to parents.

As Resource Person, Yaishimla Chithung, MSc, Human Development Consultant spoke and explained abou Child Development and Child Rights, emphasising on handling and managing children carefully and sensitively throughout the 5 stages of their development.
She said that parents and guardians should sincerely focus on their children between 2-8 years old and teach them the etiquette of politeness, humbleness, etc.
About 43 participants attended the programme with great zeal, learning and asking various queries during the interaction session too. The villagers also appreciated the NGO for organising such programmes for the well-being of the children and their parents.
The program ended with a word of thanks from Ts Hmanrose, NGO convenor and a benediction prayer from Mr. Ps Ngamcho. Earlier, the programme began with a opening prayer by Ht Divison and a word of gratitude from Mr. Ps Ngahring, chief of Y Khutha village.
