Shillong: BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai has strongly denounced the recent petrol bomb attack targeting Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar’s residence.

In a statement released today, Shullai emphasized the unjustifiability of instilling fear among residents through such acts.

Shullai asserted that the government must stand firm against any pressure, maintaining its authority over state administration to address the prevailing situation decisively, preventing further breaches in security.

“We will not tolerate any form of hate crime in society. No holy book or religious faith advocates the murder of innocent lives. Law enforcement authorities should be empowered to carry out their duties, ensuring justice for those affected,” he added.

Highlighting the protection under the sixth schedule of the Indian Constitution for indigenous communities, Shullai cautioned against being misled by false propaganda, emphasizing responsible citizenship and peaceful expression of dissent.

“We must recognize that tourism is a vital industry for the state, supporting thousands of livelihoods directly and indirectly. Such incidents will hinder its growth and economic development,” he remarked.

Shullai urged all political parties, including the opposition, to unite in preventing violence and upholding the rule of law, safeguarding the state’s peaceful fabric.
