Bomb blast in front of shop in Imphal

Imphal: Suspected militants triggered a powerful bomb at a shop in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Thursday morning.

No casualty was reported in the blast which police suspected to be IED in front of a shop at Kairang Muslim Mayai Leikai under Heingang police station in Imphal East early today morning, around 4.20 am.

The shop was closed at the time of triggering the blast.

The impact of the blast, however, caused damages to the shutter and roof of the shop belonging to Md Tolen (40) and other shops in row.

None of the militant groups so far owned up the blast till the time of filing this report.

However, police suspected monetary demand from the shop owner behind the blast.

Police have registered a case to investigate the incident.
