BSF Foils Smuggling Attempt at Indo-Bangla Border, Seizes Goods Worth Rs 9.5 Lakh in Meghalaya

Shillong, Jan 6: Troops of BSF Meghalaya thwarted a major smuggling attempt along the India-Bangladesh border on January 5.

The troops also apprehended one Indian national in AOR of BOP Nongkhen in the area of village Riyazlong, under West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya and seized various items worth more than Rs. 9.5 lakh including garlic, cattle, sugar, panipuri, blankets, Gillette blade and an Alto car used for carrying snuggled items in East Khasi Hills intended for smuggling into Bangladesh, a BSF source said today.

The apprehended individual and confiscated goods were handed over to customs authorities for further action. 

“This operation highlights the Border Security Force’s unwavering dedication to securing India’s borders and combating cross-border illegal activities, including smuggling and infiltration,” it added.
