Tengnoupal: C-Coy of 20th Assam Rifles, Saibol was ambushed by unidentified armed group at Saron Junction under Tengnoupal Police Station on Thursday morning around 8:30 am.

A powerful IED, which the armed group reportedly managed to plant earlier on the Cassper bullet proof vehicle of the troop of C-Coy, 20 AR detonated, leading to an intense exchange of fire.

No casualties have been reported so far.

The troop was returning to their base camp at Narum Saibol Village in Tengnoupal District.

The Assam Rifles has initiated search operations in suspected areas to apprehend the perpetrators. No group has claimed responsibility at the time of filing this report. Further details awaited.
