Guwahati, Jul 20: Nearly a month after CBSE declared Class XII re-evaluation results, students in Assam and across the Northeast are still waiting for their updated marksheets—putting their national university admissions at risk.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had released re-evaluation results on June 23, 2025, but as of July 20, the updated marksheets have neither been dispatched to students nor reached the CBSE Regional Office in Guwahati.

When contacted, the front office of the regional office confirmed the delay. “The marksheets are still awaited and may arrive by the end of the month,” an official said.

This delay comes at a critical juncture, as Delhi University (DU) and other central universities are in the middle of their undergraduate admission processes. Many students from the Northeast are now facing harassment and uncertainty for not being able to submit their final marksheets, despite completing re-evaluation.

“In this age of 5G internet and overnight courier, it’s unjustifiable that marksheets are stuck in transit for weeks,” said a frustrated parent. “More disappointing is the fact that once again, the Northeast region appears neglected—with ‘connectivity’ or ‘system delays’ being the standard excuse.”

Several families have alleged a pattern of apathy from national boards and institutions when it comes to the Northeast. Delays in processing or delivery of important academic documents have become a recurring concern.

“Our children are being left behind not because they lacked merit, but because the system does not move with the urgency their futures demand,” said another guardian.

Parents and students are now urging CBSE Headquarters and the Ministry of Education to intervene immediately. They are demanding swift dispatch of the pending documents and a thorough review of procedural inefficiencies that repeatedly disadvantage students from the region during national-level admission processes.
