Manipur CEO Launches Signature Campaign Ahead of LS Elections 2024

Imphal: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur, Pradeep Kumar Jha launched a signature campaign today on electoral participation that aims at targeting all electors particularly the youth to cast their votes on poll day in a free, fair, peaceful manner and without any inducement or fear from any external factor.

Various creative/ explainer videos on applications like C-Vigil, 1950 (toll-free no.), Know Your Candidate (KYC), Saksham, Voter Helpline etc. have been popularized through multiple media platforms to promote ethical, informed, inclusive and accessible voting, the CEO said.

Large hoardings and posters with information on empowering voters have been installed at all strategic locations across the State. TV/Radio talks, jingles etc. have been taken up in a big way in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024, he added.

Jha said that awareness programmes on the opportunity to cast votes by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have also been taken up at all relief camps.

He informed that a total of 94 special polling stations have been identified across the state to facilitate voting by the IDPs while adding that of this total, 29 are for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and 65 for the Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency.

Forms were distributed in all the relief camps to facilitate their seamless voting on poll day. So far, 17,425 ID forms have been distributed and 9875 forms have been submitted back.

The number may increase further in the next few days, he said.

In Manipur, voting for the Inner Parliamentary Constituency will take place on April 19 while that for the Outer Parliamentary Constituency will go in two phases, on April 19 and April 26.

A total of 10 candidates – six in the Inner and four in the Outer – are in the fray.
