Chandel, December 19: Chamdil Khullen and Rungchang Veterans were crowned champions of their respective category in the recently concluded 4th Chakpi United Cup held at Chakpikarong Public Ground, Chakpikarong in Chandel district.

Organised by the Chakpi United Cup committee, the tournament saw a large number of teams participating in the men’s and veterans’ football tournament.

In the veterans’ final held on Tuesday (November 17), between Rungchang and Chakpikarong, the former came out on top with three goals to nil. Nl. Thumpalung scored two while Rd. Moningjoy scored one for the Rungchang Veterans to be crowned the champions.

As chief guest, Major Pk. Patnaik, Coy Commander, Salluk, Sajik Bn, appreciated the organisers and encouraged that such sports events are held. He said that one must take up sports for a healthy life and as a discipline.

On Wednesday, in the Men’s finale, Chamdil Khullen defeated Tampi YC by one goal to nil with Nicky scoring the winning goal in the 45th minute.

Db. Kowar, President, All Manipur Football Association, attended the finale as chief guest while Ts. Chamna Anal, Addl. SP Chandel & President DSA CDL attended as Functional President.
