Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh is reportedly set to tender his resignation if denied the authority over the Unified Command, which oversees security operations in strife torn state Manipur. The decision comes amid mounting tension in the state’s leadership and growing demands from his ruling party members.

N Biren Singh, along with his ministers and ruling MLAs, met with Manipur Governor L. P. Acharya on the night of September 7. According to media reports, there is growing speculation that the Manipur State Assembly might enter a turbulent phase in the coming days — animated state of Manipur Assembly among others.

The outcome of today’s meeting remains to be seen as the Manipur BJP political leadership awaits the Governor’s decision.

The ongoing crisis has fueled speculations about potential leadership changes in the state, with the demand for N Biren Singh’s control over security operations being a key issue.
