CM N Biren to grace 23rd PNTM Sports at Tungjoy on Jan 17

Senapati, Jan 14: The 23rd Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM) Tournament, 2024 will be graced by N. Biren Singh, Manipur Chief Minister as the chief guest at Tungjoy (Veymai) village on January 17 under the theme, “Nurturing talents” with J. Kumo Sha, MLA, 47-Karong AC & former President, PNTM as the chief host and hosted by Tungjoy Youth & Students Organization. The state CM is likely to accompany with some council of ministers along with him.

The PNTM said that beyond the athletic prowess, the student body stated to aim to foster qualities of leadership, teamwork and discipline which are a holistic approach to personal growth that extends far beyond the sports arena. In a world marked by divisions, the community stated to stand as a testament to unity amidst diversity. While stating that the youth are the future and their potential as boundless, the theme “Nurturing talents” is stated to be a clarion call to empower the young stars to shine brighter than ever before. It stated to encompass their profound mission as to ignite the spark of talents that reside within the community. The event is also stated to not just a celebration of athleticism but a tribute to their spirit of brotherhood. Their journey is stated to be a fusion of heritage and modernity, celebrating the best of both worlds.

The inaugural session is scheduled to be held at Pyamarao Pitch (Sports field) on January 17. The chief guest will unveil the monolith in the beginning of the inaugural session. Eulogy will be brought by the Tribunal General, PNTM and various Poumai artistes will enthral the gathering. Host village will display their cultural item during the program. Exhibition match is scheduled to play between Chief Minister’s XI versus PNTM XI at the later part of the inaugural session. The evening session would continue with Poumai Naga Musical Nite with various Poumai artistes and from outside.

Poumai Naga Cultural Day on January 22 will be graced by Th. Biswajit Singh, Minister, Power, Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Agriculture, Science & Technology, Govt of Manipur and Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism & Higher Education, Govt of Nagaland as the honoured guests, Khongbantabam Ibomcha Singh, MLA, 8-Lamlai AC as special guest and Medovi Rhi, President, Naga Students Federation (NSF) as functional President respectively. Naga Indigenous Wrestling competitions to follow on the day.

Closing ceremony on February 2 will be graced by N. Kayisii, MLA, 49-Tadubi AC and Janghemlung Panmei, MLA, 53-Tamenglong AC as honoured guests and Woba Joram, Working President, Naga People’s Front, Manipur State Unit as special guest. Grand Finale of matches will be played on the closing day.

Different games including Football, volleyball, basketball, Naga Indigenous wrestling, badminton, track and field athletics and individual games will be played during the tournament.

Banner Lanamai James, (Rubaru Mr. India, Youth Icon, 2022), P. Achevei, (Mister Garnier, Man’s Mega Mister North East, 2021), Shereinai Bliss, (Miss Barak, 2022), Dorina Ramai, (1st Runner-up, Miss Shirui, 2022) and Deborah Liiveiru, (Miss PNTM, 2020) are the ambassadors of the tournament.

Organising committee of the 23rd PNTM Tournament, 2024 said it solicits the presence of everyone to celebrate the spirit of sports with everyone.

As per a source from PNTM officials, exciting campsites with natural view, lodging facilities and food at minimal rate shall be made available for spectators coming from far and near during the tournament.
