CM Pema Khandu Concludes Japan Tour, Strengthens Indo-Japan Ties

Ukhrul, October 23: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, successfully concluded a productive Japan tour. A series of high-level meetings in Tokyo were held aimed at strengthening the cultural, economic and technological cooperation between India and Japan in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision in his recent visit to Japan promoting strategic partnership and global collaboration.

A key engagement was observed between Mr. Toshiaki Nishikawa, Chairman & CEO of ASEAN Group Co. Ltd, Nishikawa reaffirmed the commitment to increasing Indian workforce presence in Japan and outlined ongoing collaborations with several Indian states promoting Japanese language learning and skill development.

Another significant engagement between the Chief Minister and Mr. Yasutoshi Nishimura, Member of the House of Representatives, Japan and Chairman of the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship league was followed, ”We discussed taking forward the India-Japan partnership to further strengthen our cultural ties and explore avenues of developmental cooperation” Khandu shared on X after the meeting.

The Chief Minister also held an interaction with Mr. Hiroshi Tanimura, Executive Director, Japan Association of Travel Agents to enhance tourism cooperation between Japan and the North East region of India especially Arunachal Pradesh with interests of promoting two-way travel opportunities.

The Chief Minister concluded his Japan tour today with a “fruitful winding-up” interaction with Dr. Atsushi Sunami, President of Sasakawa Peace Foundation and senior members at their Headquarters sharing insights on Northeast particularly focusing on the tourism potential, culture and developmental prospectus in Arunachal Pradesh. A future roadmap for deeper engagement with Japan across various sectors was also discussed.

CM Pema Khandu extended his gratitude to the Sasakawa Peace Foundation for facilitating interactions with diverse stakeholders, policymakers, academics, journalists and business leaders. Rich, intricate textiles and handicrafts of the Northeast was also displayed at the SPF headquarters, gestures Khandu expressed deepening cultural understanding and strengthening the people-to-people bond between India and Japan.
