COVID-19 active case in Manipur surges to 7 with 1 new case

Imphal: COVID-19 active case in Manipur surged to seven after one more fresh positive case was detected on Thursday against zero discharge.

A man from Imphal East district was tested positive for the COVID-19 upon testing of 72 samples across the state in the last 24 hours, the latest bulletin of the state health department said. The test positivity rate of the day was 1.4%, it added.

The fresh case took the overall infection count of COVID-19 in the state to 1,37,251, out of which 1,35,124 have recovered from the disease. The recovery rate was 98.45%. The fatality toll stood at 2,120 as no death related to the disease occurred in the state since March 18 last. Adding the 72 samples tested in the last 24 hours, as many as 16,14,298 samples have been tested for the new coronavirus in the state so far.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing universal immunization drive, as many as 29,46,628 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the state with 2,422 more people being inoculated on Wednesday. Of the 15,87,979 people inoculated with the first dose of the vaccine, 12,53,013 of them received the second dose while as many as 1,05,636 people took the precautionary dose, the health department said.
