Senapati, Oct 15: The District-Level Inter-School and College Literary Meet 2025 was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Senapati, on Tuesday. The event, organised by the District Administration, Senapati, saw participation from various schools and colleges across the district.

In his keynote address, Panii Ngaonii, SDC, said that such an event was being held after a gap of 15 years, the last one having taken place in 2010. He stated that the main objective of the meet was to help students develop skills in presentation, public speaking, and critical thinking — essential for problem-solving and responsible citizenship.

He added that many students, despite being bright, lack opportunities to speak in public, which often affects their confidence and performance in competitive settings. The SDC encouraged students to broaden their knowledge, especially those aspiring to study or work outside the state or abroad, and advised them to make the most of the event and not leave without earning a certificate.

Addressing the gathering, Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, said that such events provide students with opportunities to interact and compete with their peers from other institutions. She noted that participation in various competitions helps build confidence and personality. “Winning is important, but participation itself holds great value,” she said, urging students to enjoy the process, showcase their talents, and use such platforms to grow in leadership and life skills.

The literary meet featured a variety of competitions — painting and essay writing for Classes 8 to 10 (high school level), quiz and video/reel making with presentations for the higher secondary level, and debate and extempore speech for college students.

Students from seven higher secondary schools competed in the quiz, eight participants joined the video/reel making and presentation, and students from three colleges participated in the debate competition.
