Doctors of Ukhrul Dist stage sit-in protest over non-implementation of demands

Ukhrul: As part of the ongoing All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association (AMHSDA) protest against the state government non-implementation of the association eight charter of demands, the doctors of Ukhrul district on Friday staged democratic sit-in protest at district hospital, Hungpung to show their support in the association struggle towards materialising their prolonged genuine demands.

The agitating doctors donned black badges while on their duty to show their dismayed to the goverment and staged sit-in protest at the front gate of Ukhrul district hospital, Hungpung. “The doctors also expressed their grievances over the alleged lackadaisical attitude of the state government towards them despite repeated appeals to resolve their genuine demands.”

Despite the association repeated appeals and approaches to settle the unresolved issues and demands, no positive response was forthcoming. Unresponsive attitude of state government have compelled us to resort into extreme form of democratic agitation, the protesting doctors expressed.

The protesting doctors in Ukhrul district also expressed their fullest support and commitment affirming that it will fully stand with and go hand in hand with AMHSDA in any future course of action it takes so long state government fails to materialize our demands.

The eight charter of demands of the All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association are: Time-bound promotion in the service career; extending retirement age up to 65 years for all medical health service doctors; creation of director general post for Health Services, Family Welfare Services, Public Health and Medical Education; fixation of Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) with effect from January 1, 2016 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission, strict adherence to the Transfer and Posting Policy of Health Services 2017; allowing MHS doctors to hold top posts by virtue of seniority; implementation of proposed MHS Rules 2020 and Amendments; and provision of allowances for postings in risks and difficult areas.
