Free Medical Health Camp for Elderly Held at Khamlang, Kamjong

UKHRUL: A free medical camp for the elderly was held at Khamlang village, under the Kasom Sub-Division in Kamjong District, Manipur. Khamlang Baptist Church organized the event in collaboration with the Kasom Khullen Primary Health Centre.

Around 32 elderly patients received treatment and free medication.

Speaking at the event, Rev. Shangkhaning Zingkhai, local Pastor, stated that the Church has been organizing such programs since 2019 as part of their commitment to caring for the elderly. He emphasized the importance of looking after the elderly and noted that the Church promotes these initiatives a few times each year, in addition to observing International Old Age Day.

The health camp was led by Dr. Deenlung Ngoruw, a medical officer, along with two nurses, Sororwon Keishing and Joyphani Shanglai. Dr. Deenlung Ngoruw reported that similar camps are conducted in the region multiple times a year. She informed that on May 14, a medical camp was held in the Indo-Myanmar border villages, including Namlee and Kengseng in Kamjong District.

Dr. Vareso Tuithung, the Medical Officer-in-Charge, who led the team, stated that approximately fifty patients, mostly refugees, were treated in Namlee village, along with the distribution of medicines. Additionally, he mentioned that the team provided routine immunizations to the local population and conducted health check-ups. He further reported that a few more patients were treated at Kengseng.
