Ukhrul: In a recent press statement, the European Manipuri Association (EMA) has condemned the escalating violence in Manipur, focusing on the distressing abduction of six women and children from Jiribam on November 11. The association expressed concern over the incident, which it described as a “deeply disturbing” example of the hardships civilians—particularly women and children—are facing amid the ongoing unrest in the region.
EMA emphasized that the safety of women and children must remain a priority under any circumstance and that they should never be used as instruments in conflicts, regardless of political or ethnic differences. “The security and welfare of the most vulnerable members of society reflect the collective humanity of a region,” the statement read.
