Ukhrul, January 11: A fire broke out at Hamleikhong E-Block, Ukhrul, at approximately 6:20 PM, causing damage to a residential house.
The Ukhrul Fire Service said it responded swiftly to a call reporting the fire and arrived at the scene to find smoke and flames engulfing a house.

Fortunately, no occupants were present when the firefighters arrived.
The affected house, identified as belonging to Simon Chithung from Kashung Village, Kamjong District, suffered severe damage. However, no human casualties were reported, Fire Service Ukhrul said.

“The timely intervention of Ukhrul Fire Service with the help of Ukhrul Police Team, Assam Rifles and the intense efforts of the public had control the fire from spreading to others,” said Fire Service, Ukhrul.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Further investigations are underway.
