Fire destroys at least 17 houses in Kanan Veng, Imphal

Imphal: Fire destroyed at least 17 houses in the congested Kanan Veng, opposite Kekru Pat in Imphal West District last night.

The incident reportedly took place at around 10 pm, when a Kutcha house in Kanan Veng suddenly caught fire, soon spreading to other houses.

Imphal West Police personnel and Manipur Fire Brigade team rushed into the area to save the houses.

However, the fire became untameable due to the explosion of LPG cylinders one after another.

Locals said they heard sounds of electric sparks before the Kutcha house caught fire. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
