Imphal: Sleuths of Narcotic Affairs and Border (NAB) of Manipur police have arrested three persons including a woman along with illegal drugs worth around Rs 2 crore in the international market.
Officials identified the arrested persons as Md Azad Khan, Mustaqeem, Annie Khumlo Anal and Joseph Th.
The official source said that personnel of the NAB on frisking and checking duty at Mantripukhri area along NH-2 based on specific information arrested the first three persons along with contraband Ice-drug (crystal methamphetamine) from their possessions.
During spot verification, the trio revealed that the drugs were to be delivered to one person by the name Joseph Th.
Further operations based on the disclosure made by the trio led to the arrest of Joseph from one Sekmai area. A cash amount of Rs 1,00,000 recovered from his possession, the source said.
The seized contraband drug would worth around Rs 2 crore in the international market, the source said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested persons are part of inter-state drug traffickers. The seized Ice-drug was allegedly smuggled from Myanmar and being transported to another state via NH-2, the police source alleged.
A regular case is registered against the arrested four at NAB police station and further investigation is on to establish the kingpin and the chain of syndicate, the source added.
