Freedom Fighter Haipou Jadonang Remembered on His 92nd Death Anniversary

Imphal: The 92nd Death Anniversary of Freedom Fighter Haipou Malangmei Jadonang Kabui was commemorated through various events and ceremonies in Manipur on August 29.

Kabui Union Manipur (KUM) organized an event at Keishamthong Kabui khul, where attendees gathered to pay their respects by offering floral tributes to the photo of the late freedom fighter. A religious ceremony was also conducted to honor the memory of the late freedom fighter.

Speaking on the sidelines, Lanbon Kabui, the Secretary of Kabui Union Manipur, emphasized the importance of Jadonang’s legacy. He called upon both present and future generations of the Kabui community to find inspiration in Jadonang’s deep love for his homeland and his unwavering dedication to safeguarding Manipur’s territorial integrity. Lanbon Kabui highlighted Jadonang’s courage in opposing British colonial rule and urged today’s generations to uphold the spirit of freedom fighters. He also expressed a desire for peace and harmony within the state.

Zeliangrong Union Assam Manipur and Nagaland also observed the death anniversary at Haipou Jadonang Park in Keishampat, Imphal. Attendees gathered to pay their respects at the statue of Haipou Jadonang in the park.

The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Zeliangrong community, commemorated the anniversary at various locations, including Khoupum Valley, Sankhomei Village, Senapati district Headquarters, and Tamenglong districts.

During these events, people honored Haipou Jadonang’s contributions as a freedom fighter. The commemorations encompassed cultural activities, sports events, and medical camps, providing a platform to reflect upon Jadonang’s sacrifices and the values he embodied. A press note from the Deputy Secretary of Zeliangrong United Front, Alur Seikho, paid tribute to Haipou Jadonang on his 92nd death anniversary.
