UKHRUL: The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) on Wednesday announced the imposition of Presidential Rule in the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) with immediate effect, citing a breakdown of stability that has made normal regional administration untenable.
In a press release issued from Hebron, the GPRN stated that the Yaruiwo exercised powers under Article 3, Serial No. (viii) of the Yehzabo of Nagalim to enforce Presidential Rule through Presidential Order Reference No. 13/GPRN/ORD-50/YO/26 dated June 16, 2026.
As part of the new arrangement, a team of Provisional Authorities has been constituted to assume administrative responsibilities in the region. Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Ramkhathing Varah, MM, MC, a member of the Collective Leadership, has been appointed as the convener of the provisional administration.

The GPRN stated that all powers and responsibilities previously exercised by the Kilo Ministry in the Wung Tangkhul Region have been transferred to the newly constituted authorities. The arrangement, according to the release, will remain in place until “normalcy is fully restored.”
While the statement did not elaborate on the circumstances that led to the decision, the move comes against the backdrop of recent political and administrative developments within the region.
In a separate notification issued the same day, the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), GPRN, announced restrictions on the movement of commodities from Nagalim areas towards Myanmar.
The notification stated that the outbound transportation of all commodities, including petroleum products and related derivatives, has been prohibited with immediate effect under an order titled “Strict Monitoring Along the so called Indo-Myanmar Border.”
According to the GPRN, the Naga Army has been tasked with enforcing the directive and maintaining round-the-clock surveillance along the Indo-Myanmar border until further orders.

No timeline was provided regarding the duration of the restrictions, and the notification described the measure as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen monitoring along the border.
The twin announcements are expected to have administrative and logistical implications for communities in border areas, particularly those dependent on cross-border movement and trade. However, details on implementation and enforcement remain limited at the time of reporting.
