Heavy storm wreak havoc in Manipur valley areas

Imphal: Heavy storm in the wee hours today amid the heat wave conditions created havoc in the valley areas of Manipur, destroying many houses and other structures.

The strong winds followed by heavy thunder, lightning and rain reportedly destroyed around 50 houses at Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chaprou in Imphal West District.

The heavy winds also reportedly destroyed most of the houses at Morok Ingkhol and Sanjenlok Khul in Khundrakpam Constituency, Imphal East district blowing off many rooftops and house walls.

Villagers whose houses have been destroyed are all hands in the air. The affected villagers, who are mostly farmers, appealed to the relevant authorities for help as they do not have resources to repair their houses on their own.
