New High-Altitude Road Completed in Tawang

UKHRUL, NOV 23: At an altitude of nearly 14,000 ft the most challenging road project in Tawang— Sela-Chabrela-BJ Gompa Road (14km) is now completed.

The project was undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation and executed by the 90 Road Construction Company of the 42 Border Roads Task Force.

CM Pema Khandu took to X congratulating the team, “they (42 BRTF) have shown remarkable grit and professionalism, working through landslides, heavy snowfall and extreme high-altitude.”

Tawang, located in the Indo-China border is of vital geo-political and defence significance. However, officials stress that the new road is not just a strategic asset but is also expected to boost economic activity and promote tourism in the region.
